Macron to host economic summit with G7, China and emerging nations ahead of Evian meeting
French President Emmanuel Macron will convene a videoconference on Thursday bringing together G7 members, China, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and several emerging economies in a bid to strengthen economic cooperation ahead of the G7 summit in Evian. Dubbed the "World Convergence Summit for Growth," the meeting will include representatives from Britain, Germany, Canada, the United States, France, Italy, Japan, China, as well as Brazil, India, South Korea, Kenya and Egypt. The Elysee Palace said the initiative aims to ease economic tensions and foster balanced, sustainable and shared growth, while contributing to broader discussions ahead of the G20 summit in the United States later this year. The G7 summit is scheduled to take place in the French Alpine resort of Evian from June 16-17.
