India-Canada News: Amid the ongoing diplomatic row with India over the killing of Khalistani extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a new opinion poll has got more worrying news for Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. According to a new Ipsos poll conducted for the Canada-based news platform Global News, Pierre Poilievre, the leader of the opposition Conservative Party, has emerged as the preferred choice for Prime Minister among 40 percent of Canadian citizens. In contrast, PM Justin Trudeau lags behind with only 31 percent support.

Canada decides to 'temporarily' adjust staff presence in India
Canada on Thursday said it is assessing its staff complement in India and taking action to ensure safety of its diplomats in the country claiming that some of them have received threats on various social media platforms. The Canadian High Commission said Ottawa expects New Delhi to provide for the security of its diplomats and consular officers in India and that it has decided to "temporarily" adjust staff presence in the country as a precautionary measure.
