VISAKHAPATNAM: City police on Sundayclaimed to have solved the murder of a pregnant woman with the arrest of sevenpersons, including her husband and in-laws.

Krishnaveni (21), a third-year engineering student of a local college, who was murdered on Friday last, Deputy Commissioner of Police B Balakrishna told reporters this evening.
Ravi Kumar, who absconded after the incident was arrested by the task force police from the neighbouring Vizianagaram district today, the DCP said.
Balakrishna said based on the complaint given by the mother ofthe deceased, police also arrested the parents and two sisters of Ravi Kumar andtwo friends whom he had discussed the murder plan with.
Balakrishnasaid on interrogation the accused "confessed to the murder" and stated that hehad told his four friends about his intention to murder his wife, and tookadvise from them on how to eliminate Krishnaveni on the same day.
Krishnaveni was allegedly murdered by Ravi Kumar on the busy road near Kalabharati auditorium here on Friday evening while she was going to her parents house after attending college.
While Krishnaveni was walkingalone towards her home, the accused allegedly approached her and slashed herthroat with a knife following which she collapsed on the spot and died beforeshe could be taken to hospital, police said.
Balakrishna said thatRavi Kumar who married Krishnaveni six months ago had allegedly startedharassing his wife for dowry.
The DCP said cases were booked againstthe Ravi Kumar and other accused and they would be produced before the court onMonday.
