ITANAGAR: A drug peddler was arrested in Arunachal Pradesh's capital, Itanagar, after suspected
heroin worth Rs 51,000 was seized from his possession, police said on Friday. Acting on a tip-off, a police team apprehended the person from the Gandhi Market area in the city on Thursday and recovered the narcotics substance from his residence, Capital Superintendent of Police (SP) Rohit Rajbir Singh said.
The narcotic substance was kept in 51 plastic packets. During interrogation, the accused admitted that he procured the suspected heroin from Assam and planned to sell it in Itanagar, the police officer said.
A case under the relevant section of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 has been registered against the accused, the SP added.
