Haryana Elections 2024 Highlights: EC bans release of exit polls for Haryana Assembly election until 6.30 pm
As the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections approach, political parties intensify their campaigns, with key leaders addressing rallies across the state. Delhi chief minister Atishi, leading the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) campaign, urged voters to support AAP in the upcoming elections. Atishi promised better public services, including free electricity, improved government schools, and healthcare facilities, under Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership. She emphasized that Kejriwal has successfully transformed public services in Delhi and could replicate the same in Haryana.Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, took a more confrontational approach, attacking the BJP over issues like the Agnipath scheme. He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of serving corporate interests, particularly Adani’s, while ignoring the welfare of soldiers. Gandhi also promised the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), guaranteed MSP for farmers, and financial support for women and elderly citizens under the Mahila Shakti Yojana.BJP leaders, including union minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, defended their governance in Haryana. Pradhan criticized Congress leaders Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, likening them to “tourists” in the state, and suggested that they were worried about BJP’s re-election. Dhami expressed confidence that the BJP would secure a third consecutive term, citing the party’s development agenda and anti-corruption efforts. The Haryana Assembly elections will take place on October 5, with voters deciding the fate of the 90-member state legislative assembly. Results will be announced on October 8. In the previous elections, the BJP won 40 seats, while Congress secured 30 seats, making this election a closely watched battle between the two major parties.
