Government: Two detained in Kenya & Azerbaijan for Moosewala killing

NEW DELHI: Confirming that one suspect each in Azerbaijan and Kenya are under detention for the alleged involvement in the Sidhu Moosewala murder, the government said it's in contact with the "authorities concerned in both countries" about the case and possible legal action.

"I cannot say what sort of legal proceedings will be done but our authorities are in touch with both countries on the issue of the two suspects," said the MEA spokesperson.

While the man detained in Azerbaijan has been identified as Sachin Bishnoi, another accused, Anmol Bishnoi, was held in Kenya. Both are said to have fled India by using fake passports.

Moosewala was shot by a assailants in Jawaharke village of Punjab's Mansa district on May 29. Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar was allegedly the mastermind behind the singer's murder had coordinated with gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Jaggu Bhagwanpuria and some others to execute the killing earlier this year, said a Punjab police chargesheet.

According to the chargesheet, Brar had coordinated with accused Lawrence Bishnoi, Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, Sachin Bhiwani, Anmol Bishnoi, Sachin Thapan, Monu Dagar, Pawan Bishnoi and the shooters and prepared the plan to kill Moosewala. He arranged weapons, money, cars, phones, SIM cards and shelters for the other accused.
