NEW DELHI: Former Congress spokesperson and social media head Rohan Gupta joined BJP on Thursday, with a week left for the first phase of polling, reports Manash Gohain. He is the second spokesperson from the party, after Gourav Vallabh, to switch sides.

Gupta, just like Vallabh last Thursday, slammed his former party for having become "directionless and full of contradictions", leading to loss of credibility due to its drift from long-held stands on issues such as nationalism and Sanatan Dharma.

Gupta's name featured as Congress's Lok Sabha candidate from Ahmedabad (East) Lok Sabha on March 12, which he turned down citing his father's ill-health last month. Since then, there has been speculation of him joining the saffron party. Gupta, along with some other leaders, joined BJP in the presence of Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri and party national general secretary Vinod Tawde.
