Former Mumbai police commissioner Ranjeet Sharma has vowed to expose the coterie of top police officer who "deliberately implicated him in the fake stam paper scam.
NAGPUR: Former Mumbai police commissioner Ranjeet Sharma, who has been recently discharged in the Telgi case, has vowed to expose a coterie of top police officers who "deliberately implicated him in the fake stamp paper scam". "Some senior IPS officers, including the then Director General O P Bali, Additional Director General S S Puri, Deputy Inspector General of police S M Mushriff and Subodh Jaiswal conspired against me and framed charges," Sharma told reporters on Wednesday.
Sharma, who served as Commissioner of Police, Nagpur, in 2000-2001, was here to thank his counsel, eminent lawyer V R Manohar. Sharma said Bali was annoyed after he pipped him to become the commissioner of police, Mumbai.
Mushriff as Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime), Pune had written to him to delete the name of Telgi's wife Shahida who was later made an accused by CBI, Sharma said. He alleged that Bali, Mushriff, Puri and Jaiswal tried their level best to safeguard the interest of Telgi and were roaming free even today. "Why no action has been initiated against them," Sharma asked. He was also exploring the possibility of filing a criminal defamation case against these officers, Sharma added.
