Farmers consider expanding protests to 'pan-India' scale
Farmers representatives of 32 different unions jointly announced their plans for a 'pan-India' protest if the government does not accept their demands and withdraws the three new agri laws. Addressing a press conference at Singhu border, Kisan Sangharsh Samiti President Kawalpreet Singh Pannu said: "We have decided to expand this movement pan India."

New agri law used to compel firm to abide by contract: MP govt
The administration in Madhya Pradesh's Hoshangabad district ordered a firm to buy rice at a higher price as per an agreement by invoking the new law on contract farming, the government said on Saturday. A release from the MP Public Relations Department said that following complaints, a private firm was directed to procure rice on the contract prices under the new law.

Himachal Pradesh's former Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Shanta Kumar on Saturday alleged that the farmers' stir against the three central farm laws is being funded by ‘adhatiyas' and is fast slipping into “wrong hands”, including those of terror outfits. “It is unfortunate that even after long talks by ministers and assurances by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the farmers' agitation is becoming more intensified,” said Kumar, also a former Union Minister for Food and Public Distribution.

Protesting farmers 'unwilling' to undergo Covid-19 test, says Sonipat medical officer
With the shadow of coronavirus looming large over protest sites, the Sonipat district administration is offering testing facility to farmers protesting the Centre's new agri laws but most of them are "unwilling" to get tested, fearing they would be isolated if found positive and this would "weaken" their agitation. The district medical officer said the ongoing protests by farmers, only a few of whom wear face masks, not only pose a threat to their lives but also to those of hundreds of workers of various factories located on the Delhi-Sonipat road.
