NEW DELHI: An Indian girl is among the 20 people killed in
Bangladesh’s worst terror attack on Friday.
"I am extremely pained to share that the terrorists have killed Tarishi, an Indian girl who was taken hostage in the terror attack in Dhaka," external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj tweeted on Saturday.
The minister informed that she has spoken to her father, Sanjeev Jain, and conveyed deepest condolences.
"The country is with them in this hour of grief," she said.
Tarushi, a student at UC Berkeley, was on vacation in Dhaka. Her father runs a garment business in Bangladesh for the last 15-20 years, according to officials here.
The minister said that the government has offered all the assistance to Tarishi's father. "We have arranged Visa for family and they are flying tommw," Swaraj tweeted.
"I monitored this personally the whole night. Our Dy High Commnr in Dhaka Adarsh Swaika is with family since yesterday," she added.

Dhaka’s high-security diplomatic zone before commandos launched an assault on Saturday killing six attackers and capturing one alive.
Another Indian, a doctor by profession, had a narrow escape, as he spoke fluent Bengali and the terrorists mistook him for a Bangladeshi, they said.
Most of the foreigners who were killed in Friday’s attack were Italian and Japanese. Two senior police officers were also killed in the gunbattle.
Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the attack through its Amaq news agency, nearly four hours after the hostage crisis unfolded, according to the US-based SITE Intelligence group, which monitors jihadist activity online.
