CPI(ML) accuses EC of misleading country on deletion of names from Bihar electoral roll
NEW DELHI: Accusing the Election Commission of misleading the country by claiming that there are no complaints over deletion of names from Bihar voters lists, Communist Party of India (M-L) slammed the poll body for not providing booth-level lists of names deleted because of deaths and migration. It said the refusal to provide select lists is making it difficult for political parties to analyse exclusion of electors from the electoral roll.
CPI (ML) chief Dipankar Bhattacharya said EC’s claim that there are no objections or complaints is far from the truth, as the election body itself has admitted that 3,000 objections have been filed directly by electors, who have since been asked to apply afresh for inclusion by filling up Form 6. “How does the EC know that the nearly 15,000 Form 6 received so far are all from first-term voters and not those whose names have been deleted?” he asked.
Bhattacharya said CPI (ML) has repeatedly asked the EC to provide booth-level lists of the names deleted, and the reasons for the same, but the commission has not fulfilled the demand. “The EC insists on supplying only consolidated lists, which makes it inordinately difficult for political parties to crosscheck every deletion. Why is the EC refusing to share booth-level lists of those considered dead or having permanently migrated from Bihar, especially if it is really serious about ensuring that no eligible voter is left out?” he wondered.
He also asked why the lists are being shared only in English and not in Hindi.

These Commies have No Credibility here, or anywhere else. Heck, if left to them, this country would have been the ultimate paupers' paradise, as it almost became under Nehruvian Socialism.Read allPost comment
