Over 13% fully vaccinated in Uttar Pradesh
More than 13% of Uttar Pradesh’s population is now fully vaccinated now. As per the Cowin portal data updated till 9pm on Tuesday, over 2 crore beneficiaries have taken both doses, covering 13.4% against the target of 15.04 crore. Meanwhile, the total number of doses given in the state reached 10.5 crore, including 8.5 crore persons who have taken one dose.

Home secretary Ajay Bhalla, in a letter to all state chief secretaries and UT administrators, warned that any large-scale gatherings may lead to a fresh surge in Covid cases. He said while daily cases were declining, there was still localised spread in a few states.
He asked the states and UTs to keep focusing on five-fold strategy of testtrack-treat-vaccinate and adherence to Covid-appropriate behaviour.

Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla on Tuesday wrote to the chief secretaries of all the states and union territories to strictly continue their five-fold strategy to avoid the possibility of a surge in Covid-19 cases during the upcoming festive season. "The daily Covid-19 cases are declining steadily in the state, but the cases can rise during the upcoming festive season. So, the states and union territories should strictly continue to follow the five-fold strategy, that is, Test-Track-Treat-Vaccination and Adherence to Covid-19 protocols, to avoid the possibility of a spike in cases in the festive season," the official statement issued by the Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla said.
