Sharp increase in Covid-19 cases in Peru and Chile
Peru on Sunday reported 8,800 new infections, setting a new daily record for a country that already has the second highest number of novel coronavirus cases in Latin America after Brazil. The death toll is now at 4,506, the third highest in the region. Neighboring Chile on Sunday reported 57 more fatalities in the past 24 hours, a new record that brings the country's death toll to 1,054.

People living on higher altitude have less chances of catching coronavirus: Study
Researchers have found that populations living in higher altitudes, especially 3,000 meters (9,842 feet) above the sea level significantly report lower levels of coronavirus infections than their lowland counterparts. The Washington Post cited one peer-reviewed study, published in the journal Respiratory Physiology & Neurobiology, in which researchers from Australia, Bolivia, Canada and Switzerland looking at epidemiological data from Bolivia, Ecuador and Tibet found that Tibet's infection rate was "drastically" lower than that of lowland China, three times lower in the Bolivian Andes than in the rest of the country and four times lower in the Ecuadoran Andes.

Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation and Ahmedabad bus services resume
Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation bus services in state districts resumed from today. Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS), (city bus services) also resumed in Ahmedabad after almost two and a half months. Health guidelines issued by the government are being followed by the passengers, drivers and conductors. US sends Brazil malaria drug unproven for Covid-19 treatment
The US has sent to Brazil more than 2 million doses of a malaria drug touted by President Donald Trump as potentially protecting against and treating the coronavirus, even though scientific evidence has not backed up those uses. In a joint statement with the Brazilian government on Sunday, the White House said the doses of hydroxychloroquine had been sent to Brazil as a prophylactic for front-line health workers and as a therapeutic for those who may come down with the virus. The White House said it was also delivering 1,000 ventilators to Brazil.

Coronavirus lockdown eases in Moscow as cases fall in Russian capital
Residents of Moscow can leave their homes to take a stroll for the first time in nine weeks on Monday under a partial easing of a tough lockdown regime following a fall in novel coronavirus cases. Japan is considering re-opening its borders to travellers from selected countries which have low levels of coronavirus infections, as it begins to ease restrictions put in place earlier this year to control the outbreak. As schools, cinemas, sports clubs and department stores reopened in the nation's capital Tokyo on Monday, media have reported that the government is also planning to allow travellers from Thailand, Vietnam, Australia and New Zealand into the country in the coming months.
