Coronavirus live updates: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat tests Covid-19 positive, hospitalised
Covid infections scaled another peak with 131,968 infections on Friday, another single-day highest. 780 deaths were also reported in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile shortage of vaccines are being felt in several states. Several vaccination centres in Mumbai will remain closed today due to unavailability of vaccines. Restrictions in movement and night curfews are being enforced in Delhi, Maharashtra and some places of Tamil Nadu and MP. Stay with TOI for all the latest.

Even Thailand, which has weathered the coronavirus pandemic far better than many nations, is now struggling to contain a new Covid-19 surge. Even countries where vaccine rollouts are finally getting some momentum, infections, hospitalizations and deaths are surging. And that leaves even bleaker prospects for much of the world, where largescale vaccination programs remain a more distant prospect.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Friday said the state government has decided to close the schools for one more week in view of surge in cases of covid-19. Earlier, the government had announced to close all schools till April 11.
