Congress questions Irani’s education, says case too complicated for her

Congress hit back at textiles minister Smriti Irani over her comments in the National Herald case, saying she was unable to understand the complicated issue since her educational qualifications were under a cloud.

“Smriti Irani has been out of favour with the Prime Minister for far too long. She is trying to seek lost political relevance by abusing the Congress leadership as she has become quite irrelevant and is about to be relegated to the annals of history,” Congress spokesman

said.

Calling the income tax notices “foolish”, Surjewala said Congress loaned Rs 90 crore over 10 years to the National Herald group so that newspapers which played a big role in the freedom struggle could pay their employees.
