RAIPUR: Encouraged by prompt EC action against the Chhattisgarh government on complaints made by them, the Opposition here is waiting for the three-member Commission team, led by Chief Election Commissioner J M Lyngdoh, with bated breath.
The Opposition, sources say, have a list of complaints to make to the team reaching here on Tuesday. Top on this list is a complaint against the district magistrates.
The BJP and NCP members have alleged that these officials call chief minister Ajit Jogi “daddy and her wife Renu Jogi “mummy. However, the Chief election officer here has clarified that this did not amount to the violation of the model code of conduct.
The NCP, on its part, is infuriated with a local private TV channel, which has stopped featuring the party’s president V C Shukla completely. It will also raise the “daddy-mummy issue. The Congress too has its own set of issues to raise before the CEC.
Party spokesman Shailen Nitin Trivedi said BJP leaders had been making inflammatory speeches, which could provoke communal feelings in the state. He said the party will bring this to the notice of the CEC. In Rajnandgaon, the constituency of BJP state chief Raman Singh, the BJP has distributed booklets with pictures of gods and goddesses, he added.
