Central government declares Dera Baba Nanak land check post as immigration check post

: In yet another step closer to the facilitation of devotees for pilgrimage to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur Sahib in Narowal district of Pakistan, the Centre on Monday has notified

Baba Nanak land check post as an authorised immigration check post for the passenger movement between India and Pakistan.


A notification issued by the ministry of home affairs on Monday reads "In pursuance of sub-rule (b) of rule 3 of the Passport. (Entry into India) Rules, 1950, the Central government hereby designates Dera Baba Nanak Land Check Post of District Gurdaspur, Punjab state as an authorised Immigration Check Post for entry into /exit from India with valid travel documents for all classes of passengers."

An immigration official who didn’t wish to give his name explained that with authorising of Dera Baba Nanak land check post as an authorised immigration check post, all the immigration formalities of the passengers going to Pakistan or arriving back from there would be completed at Dera Baba Nanak land check post.

Border Security Force (BSF) deputy inspector general, Gurdaspur Rajesh Sharma informed that, presently the passenger movement between India and Pakistan takes place only from Attari land and rail border in Punjab and Dera Baba Nanak would be the second place for passenger movement between the two countries.

In a letter written to PM Modi, Aujla said "As you are aware that 550 birth anniversary of

Guru Nanak

Dev is being celebrated in the November 2019 beginning with the development of a corridor to the Kartarpur Sahib, I request you to upgrade GNDU into an international level Central University."
