KOCHI: Renowned Carnatic vocalist Mathangi Sathyamoorthy has been selected for this year's M S Subbalakshmi award.
Announcing the award, instituted in memory of renowned vocalist M S Subbalakshmi, the M S Subbulakshmi Foundation and Varkala based Sreekrishna Natya Sangeetha Academy said Mathangi has been chosen for this year's award taking into consideration her contribution to Carnatic music.

The award carries a cash prize of Rs 10,001, and a statuette.
The foundation also selected veteran Malayalam actress KPAC Lalitha for the first M S Subbalaksmi foundation award for films. The award is for her portrayal of KPAC Radhamani in the film 'Nadan'.
The award carries a cash prize of Rs 25,001, a memento and citation.
Actor Sai Kumar has been selected for this year's Sree Krishna film award for his role in 'Sound Thoma'.
