NEW DELHI:
BJP on Thursday denied the emergence of Aam Aadmi Party as a challenger dominated the deliberations between party leaders and
RSS brass at Hyderabad on Thursday.
Reacting to reports saying that AAP preoccupied the Sangh Parivar leaders attending the huddle, BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said, “The reports are not correct. The discussions focused on ideological and organizational issues.”
He also quoted BJP chief Rajnath Singh to claim that AAP did not come up for discussion at all.
“I have checked with Rajnathji, and he was categorical that the so-called threat from AAP was not even mentioned. He has also refuted reports that RSS chief Mohanrao Bhagwat was among those who expressed concern over AAP’s rise. In fact, Rajnathji said Mohanraoji did not even speak on any issue through the day,” said Trivedi.
The BJP spokesperson also disputed the suggestion that the BJP was apprehensive of the damage that AAP might cause to the party’s plan to retake power at the Centre, and has been forced to copy the methods of the new outfit. “Narendra Modi is easily the most popular leader in the country and we are going to form the country. We cannot help AAP is credited with pioneering things that we and other parties have been doing for decades.”
