Bihar polls: NDA announces seat-sharing deal; BJP, JD(U) to contest 101 seats each
NEW DELHI: NDA on Sunday announced its seat-sharing for the Bihar Assembly elections. Under the arrangement, the BJP and JDU will contest 101 seats each. The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) will contest 29 seats, while the Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLM) and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) will contest six seats each.
Union education minister and BJP MP shared the news on X saying, “We, along with NDA allies, have completed seat-sharing in a cordial atmosphere. Workers and leaders of all NDA parties have welcomed it with joy.
The seat-sharing announcement followed a meeting at the BJP headquarters, attended by senior leaders including Union home minister Amit Shah, Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Bihar deputy chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, among others.
Earlier, before leaving Patna for Delhi, HAM chief Jitan Ram Manjhi said he is a loyal NDA member and will follow the BJP leadership’s decision on seat allocation.
Bihar's deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, who attended the BJP core group meeting in Delhi on Saturday, said, “Nobody has any kind of resentment. Everyone has expressed their views; all are happy."
In the previous Bihar Assembly elections in 2020, BJP had contested 110 seats and the JDU 115 seats. The results saw BJP winning 74 seats and JDU 43 seats.
