Bihar elections 2020: UP CM Yogi Adityanath addresses a public rally in Balmiki Nagar, West Champaran

The PM targeted the lone Mahagathbandhan crowd puller: its CM face Tejashwi Prasad Yadav. The latter, who was dismissed as a mere pretender just weeks ago, was acknowledged as the NDA’s challenger. In rally after rally, PM Modi referred to the RJD leader as ‘jungle raj ka yuvraj’. While the NDA’s chosen leader in Bihar – CM Nitish Kumar – seemed slipping on his ‘15 years vs 15 years’ campaign, the PM recalled the 15 years of the Lalu-Rabri raj as the jungle raj which, he reiterated, must not be allowed a rerun.

The Congress alleged on Sunday that people of Bihar were made to drink contaminated water in Nitish Kumar's regime, and the cities and towns in the state turned into garbage dumps. Congress national general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala said not only the water has turned impure but also there is corruption in government schemes related to it. Besides, people are forced to live in cities filled with garbage, he claimed. To drive home his point, Surjewala adressed the press conference on the road in front of Patna GPO, located in the heart of the city.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleging that the PM had in 2014 promised to reopen the sugar mills in the region but it remains unfulfilled to date. Yadav further questioned the PM's silence over the issue in the latter's rally held at Motihari.

Alleging that the "leaders of jungle raj" have come together with the supporters of "Naxalism" and "tukde-tukde gang", Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged the people of the state to be aware that if the Grand Alliance wins, it will again usher in an "era of violence". "This time for Bihar elections, leaders of jungle raj (Rashtriya Janata Dal or RJD) have come together with the supporters of Naxalism and tukde-tukde gang. If given a chance, they will again push the state of Bihar into the dark era of violence. Therefore, people of Bihar have to be aware of them," PM Modi said at the rally in Motihari here. The Grand Alliance in Bihar comprises of the RJD and Congress.

Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar may ditch the BJP after the assembly poll results are out, join the RJD-led Grand Alliance and make yet another attempt at posing a challenge to the NDA in the 2024 general elections, Lok Janshakti Party president Chirag Paswan claimed on Sunday. Paswan, who has chosen to plough a lonely furrow in the ongoing assembly elections, reiterated that the LJP was and will remain loyal towards the BJP, which was staring at the spectre of yet another "paltimaar" (volte face) by the JD(U) president.
