MEERUT: A local court on Tuesday rejected the bail pleas of Brand India consumer show organisers Ashit Gupta and Siddharth Manohar arrested in connection with the April 10 blaze at Victoria Park here. Chief Judicial Magistrate Jai Shankar Mishra dismissed the bail applications of the two and granted police remand of Lakhan Tomar, the third convenor accused in the case, from 8 am to 4 pm on Thursday.
Tomar's bail plea had also been turned down by the court earlier. The three are accused of negligence in organising the show, leading to the fire on the inaugural day of the trade fair that has claimed at least 57 lives, left scores injured and caused untold losses in terms of business.
