LUCKNOW/FAIZABAD: Art of Living founder and spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar will meet original litigants of the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi dispute in Ayodhya amid opposition from the

on Thursday.

On Wednesday, after meeting Uttar Pradesh chief minister

Aditya Nath Yogi

for about an hour, Ravi Shankar began mediation talks in Lucknow with religious heads for an amicable settlement in the dispute, amid celebratory drum beats and flower shower with chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram’.

“There is currently no official proposal or formula being accepted or declined. These are talks we are having with all sides and only when I come back from Ayodhya can a detail report be shared with all,” he said.

He also met national president of Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Nirman Nyas Mahant Janmejay Sharan and national secretary Pandit Amarnath Mishra, Raja Ram Chandra Acharya of Nirmohi Akhara, Mahant Suresh Das of Digambar Akhara, national president of Hindu Mahasabha Swami Chakrapani and founder president of

.

Hindu leaders held on to their stance of building Ram temple on the disputed site. “Ram mandir wahan banega jahan Ram Lalla virajmaan hain (Ram temple will be built on the spot where Ram Lalla currently is). Our formula is very clear and it is for the Muslim side to see where they can build a mosque. But no mosque in the country will be allowed in Babar’s name,” said Swami Chakrapani.

Janmejay Sharan said talks would continue until Ram temple was built on the dispute spot.

Katiyar said that talks being held by the spiritual guru would not yield any result if original litigants were not involved. “It is also our appeal to the Supreme Court to dismiss the high court order of three divisions, because we did not ask for the divisions, nor do we want it,” said Katiyar.

However, the VHP expressed doubts over Ravi Shankar’s efforts to resolve the dispute. VHP joint general secretary Surendra Jain said the issue of building Ram temple at Ayodhya can never be resolved through talks.

BASIC ISSUES ON RAMA JANMABHUMINow, Sri Sri Ravi Sankar is trying to resolving the long standing issue. Hindu kings allowed other religions such as Jainism and Buddhism to come up and build temples on their land. In contrast, Islam came from Middle East, Brahmins were forcibly converted into Muslims in North India, particularly during Aurangzeb period. Unlike other religions, they did not prefer to build new structures for prayers. From the time of Babar, thousands of Hindu temples were destroyed partially or completely, and the same building materials were used to build a Mosque at the same place. These acts go against human values and ethics that we all believe now. Before construction of any Hindu Temple, Hindu priests conduct Puja at the temple complex to induce divine power in that area. After temple completion, prana-pratishta is done to the idol generally by saints, so that it acquires divine power of a Devata. By these rituals, both the temple complex and idol will have divine power. Even if any oldest temple structure is grounded to rebuild a new temple at the same site, the site being oldest will have more divine power. In the case of temples destroyed partly and converted into Muszid, the divine power of that Devata remains to continue in the area of Muszid. If a no-Hindu worships in Hindu temple complex, do you call him a Hindu or Muslim? At Varanasi, Viswanath Temple was partly destroyed and Siva Ling was thrown into a well. Part of the earlier grand temple converted into Muszid can be seen even today. In that Muzid, prayers are conducted by Muslims. Similar is the case at Mathura. In a site of Viswanath temple, where his divine power remains, if a Muslim prays, will Prophet Mohammad respond? Will there not be clashes of divine power? Muslims should understand these limitations in their thinking.Building a new Mosque is acceptable. But forcibly destroying a temple of worship and rebuilding a Mosque there goes against human sentiments. During Muslim rule, there was no law and order as British followed and did not believe in Hindu Dharma. From the view of British laws, destruction of temples and construction of Mosques come under illegal activity. British Rulers introduced courts that helped in eviction of illegally occupied houses etc. So, Babri Musjid in Rama Janma Bhumi comes under illegally made structure. Therefore, we have to wait and see how far Sri Sri succeeds in his mission.
