Attacks on merchant shipping completely unacceptable: EAM S Jaishankar
NEW DELHI: External affairs minister S Jaishankar Wednesday underlined India's strong commitment to safe and unimpeded transit passage of maritime shipping, saying attacks on merchant shipping were completely unacceptable.
The minister gave vent to India's concerns related to merchant shipping disruptions in Strait of Hormuz, while participating in a meeting convened by Japan to discuss supply chain disruptions in energy markets.
"Global growth demands that energy markets are not constricted. As a major energy consumer, India will work with like-minded partners to develop supply chain resilience," said Jaishankar in a post on X.
He was participating in the Asia Zero Emission Community Plus Online Summit on Energy Resilience that was convened by Japanese PM Sanae Takaichi.

Mr Trump, US President is the main culprit. Israel is also same. Now Mr. Trump wants to blocade Hormuz straits by its heavy-duty military readiness. By which movements commercial oil tankers will be disrupted. America wants to paralyze global economy by such blocking/ disruption. Now Pakistan wants to mediate in it's second meeting. Army Chief of Pakistan is now only acting as an agent/ broker of both, Iran- America to arrive at a solution. Iran is always ready to open Hormuz straits fully, if America is full agreed on Iran's conditions. Either America or Iran can't block the Hormuz for easy transportation of merchant Navy. Blocking of Hormuz by either is not at all acceptable in global scenerio. India should not join with anyone'side. India has no real friend in need indeed. Jay Hind.Read allPost comment
