Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday left for Punjab to attend the swearing-in ceremony of chief minister-designate Bhagwant Mann.Elaborate arrangements have been made for Mann's oath-taking ceremony at Khatkar Kalan -- ancestral village of legendary freedom fighter Bhagat Singh in Shaheed Bhagat Singh (SBS) Nagar district. "It's a big day for Punjab today. In this golden morning of new hope, the entire Punjab will today come together and take a pledge to make it a prosperous Punjab. To witness that historic moment, I have also left for Khatkar Kalan, the native village of Shaheed Bhagat Singh," Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi.

The AAP registered a landslide victory in recently concluded Punjab Assembly polls, winning 92 seats, pushing most of its rivals to the margins. Congress won 18 seats in the 117-member Assembly. Mann, who was contesting from Dhuri Assembly constituency in Sangrur district, won by a margin of 58,206 votes over Congress' Dalvir Singh Goldy.

A day after former Congress MLA Ranjit Rawat accused senior leader Harish Rawat of “selling” party tickets in the run-up to the recently-held assembly elections, the former Uttarakhand CM “requested” the high command to expel him. Referring to the Hindu festival of Holi, Harish said it’s an “apt occasion to get rid of evil and evil like Harish Rawat”. He went on to say that such evil should be burned during ‘Holika dahan’. In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Harish wrote, “The allegations of selling party tickets and posts are extremely serious in nature.”

Elaborate arrangements have been made for his oath-taking ceremony at Khatkar Kalan — ancestral village of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh in Shaheed Bhagat Singh (SBS) Nagar district. Mann will take oath alone on Wednesday, said AAP party sources. The Punjab cabinet can have 18 ministers, including the chief minister. Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and other senior leaders will take part in the ceremony. Officials are expecting over 3 lakh people to attend the event. Officials said full-proof security arrangements have been made for the ceremony.
