R-Day theme: Projecting Nation's women power, military might

India celebrate its 75th Republic Day on Friday with an impressive display of its military might and rich cultural heritage at the Kartavya Path in the heart of the national capital. The grand celebration was graced by French President Emmanuel Macron as the chief guest.

'Aavaahan', band performance by over 100 women artistes

The parade was heralded by over 100 women artistes playing Indian musical instruments such as Sankh, Naadswaram, and Nagada for the first time instead of the traditional military bands.

President Droupadi Murmu leads the Parade at Katavya Path

President Murmu and her French counterpart Macron arrived in the 'traditional buggy', a practice that is making a comeback after a gap of 40 years, the defence ministry said. President Droupadi Murmu leads the nation in celebrating Republic Day with a 90-minute parade on the ceremonial boulevard -- Kartavya Path.

BMP-II infantry combat vehicles

The armed forces displayed an array of home-grown weaponry and military equipment such as missiles, drone jammers, surveillance systems, vehicle-mounted mortars and BMP-II infantry combat vehicles at the parade.

First time all-women tri-services contingent part of event

In a spectacular display of cultural richness and "Nari Shakti", the third edition of the "Vande Bharatam" in the Republic Day parade of Friday showcased the theme "Cultural expression of women power - accomplishment through resolve".

Women in the Indian Navy in all roles and ranks

The Indian Navy contingent consisted of 144 men and women Agniveers, led by Lt Prajwal M as Contingent Commander and Lt Mudita Goyal, Lt Sharvani Supreiya and Lt Devika H as Platoon Commanders.

CAPF breaks gender barrier

Around 15 women pilots enthral the audience during the Indian Air Force's fly-past, representing 'Nari Shakti'. The contingents of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) also consisted of only women personnel.

Border Security Forces marching contingent

Border Security Force marching contingent was headed by Assistant Commandant Monika Lakra; Central Industrial Security Force by Assistant Commandant Tanmayee Mohanty; Central Reserve Police Force by Assistant Commandant Megha Nair; Indo-Tibetan Border Police by Assistant Commandant Moniya Sharma; Sashastra Seema Bal by Deputy Commandant Nancy Singla; and Delhi Police by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Shweta K Sugathan," Defence Ministry said.
