JAMMU: Within 24 hours of the attack on a bureaucrat, the security forces on Monday gunn-ed down the second militant in the Sidhra-Mahamaya forest area on the outskirts of Jammu.
The other militant was killed on Sunday in the encounter that followed the attack.
The security forces had laid a siege around the area on Sunday, but had suspended the operation in the evening.

Police uniforms were recovered from their bags, besides two AK rifles, two pistols and grenades.
Though the militants were believed to be Pakistanis, they were yet to be identified, the police said. On Sunday, the duo had fired at the official car of K B Pillai, director-general of Institute of Management and Public Administration. Three people were killed and eight, including Pillai, were injured.
After the attack, the militants fled to the nearby Mahamaya forests. In an encounter that followed, one of the terrorists was killed. One policeman was also fatally wounded.
Meanwhile, CM Mufti Mohammed Sayeed said at a meeting that the situation in the state is improving, though “we do not claim that we are out of the woods yet�.
