2,500 terrorists present in launching pads in Pak, PoK

The government estimates that there are about 2,500 terrorists in launching pads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

NEW DELHI: The government estimates that there are about 2,500 terrorists in launching pads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
"A number of training camps and launching pads are reportedly active in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir/ Pakistan. As per assessment, there are around 2,500 terrorists in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir/Pakistan," Jitendra Singh, minister of state for home, told the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
The minister also said 52 infiltration attempts along the J&K border have taken place till June, while last year the number was 489, which was slightly higher than 485 in 2009.

The government also said infiltration attempts from across the border in Jammu and Kashmir have shown a marginal increase during 2009 and 2010 as compared to 2008.
On ceasefire violation along the Line of Control (LoC), Singh said 77 such incidents had occurred in 2008. The figure down to 28 in 2009, but increased to 44 last year. Nineteen ceasefire violations have been reported along the LoC up to July, 2011.
