JAMMU: A civilian was killed and three others, including an army jawan, were injured in heavy shelling by Pakistani troops in Noushera sector of Rajouri district since Monday evening, official sources said on Tuesday. Targeting civilian areas of Noushera sector, Pakistani troops fired about 500 mortar shells in Bhawani and Kalsian area from 4.45 pm on Monday to the wee hours of Tuesday.
The Indian troops retaliated the fire. Three persons identified as Naik Malkit Singh, Satpaul, and Rekha Devi suffered injuries due to shelling in Kalsian area, they said adding Satpaul later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. The house of one Lal Chand was damaged and two cattle of Ram Saran were killed in the shelling. However, casualty or damage, if any, on the enemy side could not be ascertained, the sources said. Meanwhile, intermittent small arms firing exchange along International Border between the two sides took place in Samba sector of Jammu division during the last 24 hours, they added.
