was named the female '
Emerging Player of the Year
' at the
Times of India Sports Awards
(
TOISA 2019
) held in the capital earlier this month.
The 19-year-old Lalremsiami, who has cemented herself among the impressive strike-force in the senior women's India team, thanked the efforts of her team for helping her win the award.
"Thank you Times of India for giving me this honour. I dedicate my TOISA award to my team," the teenager, who also won the 2019 women's 'Rising Star of the Year' award by the International Hockey Federation (FIH), said.
Last year, Lalremsiami put national duty before family when she continued to play at the FIH Women's Series Finals in Hiroshima despite her father's death.
India eventually went on to win that tournament to enter the FIH Olympic Qualifiers. India qualified for the Olympics by defeating USA 6-5 (aggregate) in Bhubaneshwar. Lalremsiami was part of that team as well.Sales Special Microsites
