A hospital owner in
Kalyan East
has been booked by the flying squad of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) for allegedly pilfering electricity worth Rs 3.58 lakh for the past three months. An
FIR
has been registered at Mahatma Phule police station in this regard by the
MSEDCL, also known as
Mahavitaran.
An MSEDCL statement said: “Power supply of
Auxilium Hospital of Kalyan
was disconnected in March 2021 due to arrears of around Rs 9 lakh. After that hospital management started using electricity through an illegal connection.
In the second week of July 2021 when MSEDCL officials visited the site, the hospital staff told them that they are using a power generator but during a surprise check it was found that
Anjali Hospital
( which was running as Axullium hospital in March 2021 at the time of disconnection of the power supply) using electricity illegally.
“Despite repeated follow-ups regarding the payment of overdue electricity bills, the hospital did not pay the bills. On the contrary, during a surprise check in the second week of July, it was found that Anjali Hospital, which was earlier running as Axullium Hospital, was using electricity through illegal connections,” said a spokesperson of MSEDCL’s Kalyan circle.
This raid was conducted under the guidance of Chief Engineer Dinesh Agarwal by the joint team of the Kalyan circle special squad of MSEDCL. Confirming the development a senior officer of Mahavitaran said due to this type of activity, MSEDCL is facing around 14 per cent distribution loss in the state.
