5 Bollywood hits we'd love to see remade

Mother India
Remaking Mother India poses one major problem. Who in Bollywood today can carry off the role of a rural Indian woman from 16 to 60 that Nargis did so admirably? Preity Zinta...naah. Aishwarya Rai...a gaon ki gori? Rani Mukherjee...may be. Perhaps the role of a lifetime could tempt Ms Madhuri Nene to come out of retirement. Director? Not Karan Johar.
Hopefully.
Bees Saal Baad
This desi version of Arthur Conan Doyle's The Hound of the Baskervilles (without the hound, of course) was one of Bollywood's biggest murder mystery jackpots. In most parts, hero Biswajeet looked prettier than Waheeda Rehman. Who do you think fits the bill? And since nobody is good enough to recreate Hemant Kumar's haunting music, we will have the old songs remixed.
Junglee
Only David Dhawan can recapture the madcap energy of this Shammi Kapoor flick. Akshay Kumar appears best eqipped to scream Yaaaahoooo. But shouting from mountaintops of Gulmarg today could prompt an avalanche of gunfire from across the border. So the film will be shot in Swiss sky resort St Moritz. One can have a firang heroine too. How about Keira Knightley?
Johar Mehmood in Goa
Mehmood and IS Johar shared a comic timing together that's almost impossible to recreate. But Priyadarshan, the director with the funny bone, could try. Govinda and Paresh Rawal will have big shoes to fill but they just might. Who will play heroines Sonia Sahni and Simi Garewal? Mallika Sherawat is a suitable replacement for the former. And of course, Simi herself for the latter.
Awara
After he is done with Sholay, Ramu can try this one. Mahesh Bhatt's new girl Kangana Ranaut can be the smouldering volcano of passion that Nargis was in that sado-masochistic love scene by the beach. But who plays Raj Kapoor? Certainly not Mohit Ahlawat, we pray.
