'Do your job': Greta Thunberg-inspired Fridays for Future holds climate protests in Berlin

The protesters accused German MPs of "running out of excuses" on environment. They held banners stating, "Euch gehen die ausreden aus und uns die zeit" (You are running out of excuses and we are running out of time). (AP)

The protesters held banners demanding to know when a "climate coalition" would be formed, and called clean gas a "dirty lie." (AP)

According to UNEP, Fridays for Future is a dynamic global student movement pushing for immediate action on climate change through active campaigning and advocacy. (AP)​

The Fridays for Future movement is inspired by Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, who sat in protest in front of the Swedish parliament for three weeks in 2018 to draw attention to the climate emergency. (AP)

Now every month, students around the world take to the streets to demand that politicians do more to acknowledge and act upon the reality and severity of climate change. (AP)

As per UNEP, the marches have attracted more than one million young people in more than 100 countries. As Thunberg says: “Everybody is welcome. Everybody is needed”. (AP)

In June 2019, Thunberg and Fridays for Future received Amnesty International’s Ambassador of Conscience award, which celebrates people who have shown unique leadership and courage in standing up for human rights. (AP)
