Indian Bank win inaugural Nair memorial basketball
In a nail-biting finale that left spectators on the edge of their seats, Indian Bank triumphed over Central Secretariat 72–70 to win the 1st Ravindran Nair Memorial All India men’s basketball tournament at Fr. Agnel Sports Complex in Vashi. The five-day tournament was organised by Agnel Alumni Association and celebrated the legacy of late Ravindran Nair, a stalwart of Indian basketball who dedicated over 40 years to nurturing young talent and promoting the sport across the nation.
Seven professional b’ball teams battle for glory, which included top guns like Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Integral Coach Factory.
In the final, the teams delivered an electrifying performance, characterised by swift ball movement, strategic plays, and fierce defence. Central Secretariat’s Pratyanshu emerged as a standout player, dominating the game with impeccable scoring.
However, it was the dynamic duo of Bala and Pranav Prince from Indian Bank who shone brightest. Their remarkable composure in high-stakes moments and strategic play execution proved pivotal in securing the victory, with Pranav winning the Most Valuable Player (MVP) title for his outstanding all-around performance throughout the tournament.
The Most Crowd Favourite Award was secured by Aaron of Agnels, who captivated the audience with his thrilling displays on the court.
