Overwatch beta game by Blizzard has managed to get unexpected number of gamers
About time Blizzard Entertainment launched a new online multi-player game. The company, which has produced award winning titles like Warcraft 3 and World of Warcraft, has finally come back into the gaming scene with a big launch. This time a shooter called Overwatch has been released in its beta stage by the company that has got gamers from everywhere downloading and playing it.
The numbers are staggering and the company has already seen over 9.7 million gamers playing it. The love for first person shooting games is not over by a long shot and on the online front it seems to be growing. The open beta was available with 21 heroes from the full game, which saw over 81 million hours of play and 31 million matches.
Overwatch is one of the biggest beta opening for Blizzard Entertainment and has left its competition Battleborn (by 2K Games) biting the dust. Battleborn was released to the world in early April this year and saw just 2 million gamers playing its beta.
With close to 10 million gamers already hooked on to Overwatch, Blizzard Entertainment seems to be in for a treat. They will be launching the full version of game in last week of May and gamers can play it on multiple platforms such as PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. This just shows us how the online gaming industry has evolved and online gamers are increasing by the day. Global spending power on games also seems to be increasing, but will Blizzard be able to get the same or similar number of gamers buy and then play the full version of the game? That is something we will get to know in a few weeks time.
