‘Most targeted’ Indian industries facing cyber attacks in 2023

According to the 2023 India Threat Landscape report by Cyfirma, in the past three years, government agencies have seen a 460% rise in targeted cyber attacks while startups and SMEs saw a 508% rise. These are the ‘most targeted’ industries in India facing cyber attacks in 2023, as per the report

Services companies

Services companies including IT firms and BPOs saw the highest percentage of cyber attacks at 14.3% from September 2021 to September 2023.

Manufacturing

Manufacturing companies saw 11.6% of cyber attacks, according to the report.

Healthcare

Healthcare companies saw 10% of all cyber attacks in the last three years.

Education

Education also saw 10% of cyber attacks from September 2021 to September 2023.

According to Cyfirma, retail companies, including online platforms, saw 9.8% of cyber attacks.

​Government agencies

Government agencies saw 9.6% of cyber attacks in the last three years.

​Banking and financial services

Banking and financial services institutions saw 9.5% of all cyber attacks.

​Automobiles

Automobile companies were also targeted and saw 8.3% of attacks, according to the report.

Airlines

Lastly, according to Cyfirma, Airlines saw 6.1% of cyber attacks from September 2021 to September 2023.
