Devarannu poojisi, devaraagabedi (worship God, don’t become God). Keeping this as theme, director Lucky Shankar has woven a story of how people are responsible for creating swamijis and giving them the status of God. The story revolves around a swamiji who enjoys such a status by misusing people’s sentiments.Director Lucky Shankar has selected a good subject of swamijis exploiting people’s beliefs. It’s a relevant subject with a number of cases of swamijis facing scandals after scandals. Full marks to Ravishankar Gowda (Silly Lalli fame) who has carried the story forward with his brilliant piece of acting with good dialogue delivery and body language. The story revolves around Chitteswamy (Ravishankar Gowda), who becomes a swamiji overnight after not being able to arrange Rs 25,000 for his father’s medical treatment. Thanks to Kariya (Tabla Nani), who works overtimes to get him undue privileges. The swamiji leads a rich life also enjoys a day with a woman Sheela (Neethu) who comes to him with a problem. His popularity also creates rivals like Long Swami (Bullet Prakash) and Hoge Swami (Bank Janardhan) who hatch a plot to kill him. But circumstances evolved from the handiwork if greedy Kariya, his assistant, forces him to take up ‘Jeeva Samadhi’ (burying live.) But Viveka (Sadhu Kokila) saves him. How? Besides Ravishankar Gowda, Neethu, who appears in a few sequences, has done well. Bank Janardhan, Bullet Prakash, Sadhu Kokila and Tabla Nani are impressive. Music by Laya Kokila has some catchy tunes, especially the number ‘My name is Chitteswamy…’ (penned by Ramnarayan). Camera by MR Seenu is good.
