A video clip that has circulated widely on TikTok and X shows an Iranian American creator describing her experience visiting Iran in or around 2023. In the clip, she recounts a two-week stay that she says was marked by constant anxiety and a heavy atmosphere, which she attributes to daily life under Iran’s ruling system. She refers to strict dress codes, limitations on movement, economic hardship and a persistent sense of scrutiny. The video has resurfaced after a joint United States and Israeli military operation killed Ali Khamenei along with several other top Iranian leaders during coordinated strikes on Iran, a development that has been widely shared alongside discussions of the clip.
