He didn't established an independent region but a kingdom to rule, more over all they gained when the Mughal empire was declining after Aurangzeb. Remember the rajputs were fighting among themselves. The only king in Indian history to rule over from Afghanistan to Deccan plateau was Aurangzeb, and only British empire extended more.The only thing Mughal didn't do like conquestodors or the white invasion of America did else there's no ghar wapasi or the division of the country.
