French woman lists things India does better than her country

A French woman, known online as Freldaway, shared an Instagram video titled “Things India does better than France,” listing five everyday wins she has discovered since moving here for work. She captioned it, “As a French girl who’s moved to India for work - here are five things I think India is doing better than France!!” The post exploded with over 2.7 lakh views, attracting appreciation from users across the world.

She appreciates the affordable street food available in varieties

Freldaway began with India’s street food, raving about the endless tasty, inexpensive bites everywhere. On her Instagram post, she wrote, “So many tasty, varied and affordable options, readily available everywhere you go! You don’t just get food, but usually you also get a little chat with the uncles and a read of the local newspapers.” She loved the social vibe, where a snack becomes a small moment.

She admires the blingy jewellery

Next, she gushed over Indian jewellery. “I am all for Indian jewellery maximalism! Like hell yeah, let’s stack jhumkas, bangles, rings and necklaces like there is no tomorrow!!! They are just so colourful and fashionable - OBSESSED,” Freldaway wrote.
It’s that fearless, vibrant style that hooked her.

French woman loves the ease of Indian travel

India’s sleeper AC buses and trains won her over for long trips. She said they beat France’s options, encouraging people to skip flights for scenic rides from a cosy bed. “The country is so well connected. If you have time, don't fly, just travel around this way - you’ll see gorgeous landscapes from a comfortable lil’ bed.”

She also admires the luscious Indian hair

On hair, she marvelled at routines like oiling and protective styles, as well as genetics. “From the genetics to hair oiling and protective hairstyles, everyone and their mother could be on a shampoo commercial!!! My thin French hair is quaking,” she shared.Furthermore, she talked about Indian hospitality that truly stole the show. Freldaway called it unmatched - from home invitations to food gifts, and wished France matched the same openness. “I always feel extremely welcomed! I wish France was as kind and open-hearted towards foreigners.”

Social media response

Netizens flooded the comments with love. “I love how people observe Indian culture and appreciate it so well,” one user wrote, while another said, “It’s so nice to hear something lovely being said about my wonderful country India. Thank you.” “France was my favourite country until India came into my life,” added another fan.
