This Bengaluru woman took a 47 km route instead of 23 km to avoid city traffic - here's what happened
Traffic in Bengaluru often becomes a topic of discussion on social media, and a recent post has brought the issue back into the spotlight. People living in the city frequently talk about their daily travel problems, and this time, one resident’s experience has drawn attention online.
The post talks about a commuting decision that many people found surprising but also relatable. Instead of choosing the shorter road to reach her destination, the resident decided to take a route that was almost double the distance.
The reason behind the decision was simple. The longer road appeared to have less traffic compared to the shorter one.
The post was shared by Bengaluru resident Shravika Jain. While talking about her journey, she explained that she preferred a longer route because the shorter one was showing heavy congestion.
In her post, she wrote, “Took the 47 km route instead of 23 km to avoid traffic in Bengaluru.”
To explain the situation clearly, Jain also shared two navigation screenshots. These screenshots showed two different routes that could be taken to reach the same destination.
One of the routes shown on the map was around 23 kilometres, while the other route was about 47 kilometres.
Even though the second route meant travelling a much longer distance, Jain said it looked like the more practical option because the shorter road had heavy traffic.
The screenshots shared by Jain showed how traffic conditions can influence everyday travel decisions in the city.
Even when a route is shorter in distance, heavy congestion can slow down the journey. Because of this, some commuters choose longer routes that may have smoother traffic movement.
After the post started circulating online, many users reacted and shared their thoughts.
One user wrote, “Once a legend said, “two roads diverged in a wood, and i took the one less travelled by,' and it got real.”
Another user related to the experience and commented, “I do this everyday.”
A third user also expressed concern about traffic in the city and wrote, “In the near future Bengaluru Central Business District will become standstill.”
