Thailand hotel room shocker: Cobra encounter leaves guests startled, raises safety questions

Not every travel story starts with something dramatic, but this one did. A couple visiting Thailand thought they were in for a calm, relaxing stay – the kind where mornings are slow and peaceful. But this one took a different turn.

The episode came to light after a Facebook post by Kannuttakorn Uttaranakron started gaining attention online. What seemed like a normal stay quickly turned into a moment they weren’t prepared for – one that left them shaken even after it ended. The post has since sparked discussion, especially among travellers who stay close to nature.

It started early in the morning

The incident happened in Krabi. It was around 5 in the morning when one of them suddenly woke up, feeling like something wasn’t right. There wasn’t immediate clarity – just that uneasy feeling that makes you sit up and look around.

They quickly woke their partner, too. For a few seconds, it was just confusion. Then they spotted it.

There was a large black cobra inside the room.

And it had already been on the bed

What made it worse was not just the snake being there – but how close it had come. Later, they realized the cobra had actually moved across the bed while they were sleeping.

As reported by the Pattaya Mail, one of them described it in a way that says everything without saying too much: “Snake, it crawled over my neck.”

It’s the kind of line that gives you a pause, because you can imagine how that must have felt in that moment.

They were lucky this time

Somehow, despite how dangerous it could have been, neither of them was bitten, as mentioned in a report by India Today. Physically, they were fine. But it’s obvious the experience wasn’t easy to shake off. Waking up to something like that is enough to stay with you for a long time.

They later shared pictures of the cobra inside the room, and those images quickly spread online. People had a lot to say – mostly shock, but also concern.
