Meet the McDonald’s CEO who nailed 2025 food trends - here’s what he predicts will dominate plates in 2026
Fast food changes and grows dynamically, even faster than a drive-thru line at lunch rush, influenced by ever-changing choices, tastes, technological advancements, and what keeps customers coming back.
McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski is currently facing his spot-on predictions that he made last year, and is boldly talking about food on Instagram that is a combination of gut-health buzz, flavour mixes, and drink experiments.
Beyond menus, he gives some useful career real talk, urging people to own their paths and unique ideas in a world that changes in no time.
Kempczinski has a strong social media game, with over 57,000 followers, where he mixes menu teases and motivation, making him more than just a suit, and more like a motivating voice cutting through the noise.
Chris Kempczinski took a "victory lap" for acing his 2025 food forecasts, calling protein pushes, AI integrations, and sauce obsessions spot-on.
"I do have to do a little bit of a victory lap because this time last year, I was asked for my 2025 predictions, and I did say what was going to be big. It's going to be protein, it's going to be AI, it was going to be sauces," he said in an Instagram video.
He continued, "I think I went three-for-three. That's pretty good."
Kempczinski ranks fibre first for 2026, looking forward to gut-health boosts amid “fibermaxxing” trending on social media. High-fibre items that help with digestion, cholesterol checks, and cancer risks are suitable for health-conscious crowds. Business Insider says this builds on protein trends, with McDonald's likely tweaking menus accordingly.
"No. 1, fibre is going to be big," he predicted confidently.
Sweet-and-spicy combos land second, continuing the 2025 sauce wave where dips stole the show. Kempczinski flagged honey-spicy mixes early, and now full dishes are following.
"No. 2, sweet and spicy, together, is going to be a big food trend," he shared on Instagram. This will be especially suitable for palates craving heat with a sweet kick.
Third up, drinks are getting creative, from funky sodas to functional sips. Kempczinski sees variety exploding to grab attention, about which he said,
"And No. 3, you're going to see a lot of beverage innovation. Those are my three picks - things to look out for in 2026. I feel confident."
Kempczinski's feed mixes trends with tough career advice. In a video titled Tough Love with the McDonald’s CEO, he talks about the importance of being self-reliant:
"Remember, nobody cares about your career as much as you do."
No waiting for handouts -grab opportunities yourself.
