LPG shortage hits restaurants: Bengaluru eatery shuts days after opening; owner says, “My heart is broken"

Restaurants across several major cities in India are beginning to feel the impact of the ongoing LPG shortage. With gas supplies running low, many kitchens are finding it difficult to operate normally. The situation has become challenging enough that some restaurants have even had to temporarily pause their operations.

Temporary closure announced

A recently opened restaurant in Bengaluru has announced a temporary closure due to the shortage. The founder, Kawaljeet Singh, shared the update on X, formerly Twitter.

He wrote, “We have to remain closed temporarily due to gas shortage in Bengaluru. My heart is broken, but the spirits are alive.”

He added, “We will come back stronger once the gas situation improves.”

Closure comes soon after launch

The restaurant had just started operating on March 6, offering family dining, direct phone orders, and online delivery through Zomato and Swiggy. The current LPG shortage has made normal kitchen operations difficult, leading to the temporary pause.

Social media users respond

After the announcement, many X users shared their reactions.

One wrote, “We are operating with selected menu items, and that too for a few more days. Very bad scenario.”

Another said, “Tough times ahead. Never even imagined a situation like this.”

Some users suggested alternatives for restaurants facing such challenges: “Well, take it as an early lesson learned. I think new entrepreneurs in the restaurant business would be better off switching to alternative fuels or at least having alternative healthy cold menu cards; it just keeps the ship sailing during storms.”

Others offered encouragement: “Keep up the spirits, Buddy. This too shall pass.”

Waiting for normalcy

The restaurant will remain closed until the LPG supply improves. The team hopes to restart operations once the gas situation stabilizes.
