Kindergarten fee hits Rs 2.2 lakh? Viral post sparks debate on rising school costs
In recent days, a viral social media post has brought school fees back into the spotlight. What started as a simple screenshot of a kindergarten fee structure has now turned into a wider conversation online. The numbers involved have surprised many users, especially because they are linked to the early stage of schooling.
The discussion has quickly grown beyond one school. It is now being seen as part of a larger concern about how much education is costing families, particularly in urban areas where private schooling expenses are already high.
As per the details shared online, the admission process requires a one-time payment of Rs 48,000. This includes Rs 15,000 as a non-refundable admission fee and Rs 33,000 as a refundable caution deposit.
Along with this, the annual fee stands at around Rs 2,24,718. This amount includes tuition fees as well as charges for library and gymkhana facilities.
However, the total cost does not stop here. Parents would also need to pay extra for transport, school shoes, socks, cafeteria use and other additional expenses. These are not included in the main fee structure and can increase the overall cost further.
The viral post has raised concern among many parents who feel that early education costs are becoming difficult to manage. The discussion is not limited to one institution but reflects a wider pattern seen in private schooling.
Many users are now questioning whether such high fees are becoming the new normal, especially for kindergarten admissions.
The post has led to strong reactions online, with users expressing different opinions on the matter.
One user said, “This is clearly going out of control. Wtf is govt doing, why no regulations [sic] to control this fee hike,” highlighting concerns about rising fees.
Another user wrote, “I am so done with this country bro, we are so cooked. Imagine the amount of money we'd save if education was free like many countries here.”
Some users, however, pointed towards parental choice. One comment read, “It's not the school's fault, it's the foolishness of those idiots who send their children to such expensive schools instead of teaching them at home.”
There were also comments questioning the value of such expensive education. A user shared, “And l've interacted with the teachers of one such school, believe me they are not any better than the teachers of a government school where there is almost zero fees for the students.”
