These are the most amazing white wonders of our planet

The Earth is home to a rich diversity of life, with many species displaying a variety of colors and patterns. Some of these animals are especially remarkable for their white appearance, which can be a result of adaptation, mutation, or albinism. In this article, we will explore seven of the most amazing white wonders of the Earth, from the largest land mammal to the rarest big cat.

White rhino

The white rhino, or square-lipped rhino, is the largest living species of rhinoceros, and the second largest land mammal after the elephant. It can weigh up to 3.6 tonnes and measure up to 4.2 meters in length. The white rhino is not actually white, but gray or brown in color. Its name comes from the Afrikaans word “weit”, which means wide and refers to its broad mouth. The white rhino is a grazer, feeding mainly on grasses. It lives in savannas and grasslands of southern and eastern Africa, where it forms social groups of up to 14 individuals. The white rhino is a conservation success story, having been brought back from the brink of extinction in the 20th century. However, it still faces threats from poaching and habitat loss.

White tiger

The white tiger is a rare and beautiful variation of the Bengal tiger, which is native to India, Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh. The white tiger has a pale fur with dark stripes, blue eyes, and a pink nose. It is not a separate subspecies, but a result of a recessive gene that causes a lack of pigmentation. The white tiger is not albino, as it still has some coloration. The white tiger is a powerful predator, hunting deer, wild boar, and other prey. It can grow up to 3 meters in length and weigh up to 300 kilograms. The white tiger is very rare in the wild, with only a few individuals reported in the last century. Most of the white tigers in captivity are inbred, which can cause health problems and deformities.

White lion

The white lion is another stunning variation of a big cat, this time of the African lion, which is found in sub-Saharan Africa. The white lion has a creamy or golden fur, with pale eyes and a pink nose. Like the white tiger, the white lion is not a separate subspecies, but a result of a rare mutation that reduces the production of melanin. The white lion is not albino, as it still has some pigmentation. The white lion is a social animal, living in prides of up to 40 members. It is a formidable hunter, preying on zebras, wildebeests, and other animals. The white lion is extremely scarce in the wild, with only a few sightings in South Africa. Most of the white lions in captivity are bred artificially, which can affect their genetic diversity and survival.

White elephant

The white elephant is a sacred and revered animal in many Asian cultures, especially in Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia. The white elephant is not truly white, but has a lighter skin color than the normal Asian elephant, which is gray or brown. The white elephant may have pink or red eyes, ears, tail, and trunk. The white elephant is a symbol of royalty, power, and prosperity, and is often associated with the Buddha and Hindu gods. The white elephant is a herbivore, feeding on grasses, leaves, fruits, and bark. It can reach up to 3.5 meters in height and weigh up to 5 tonnes. The elephant is very rare in the wild, with only a few individuals recorded in history. Most of the white elephants in captivity are owned by the kings or governments of the countries where they are found.

White peacock

The white peacock is a stunning and elegant bird, belonging to the same species as the common Indian peafowl, which is native to India and Sri Lanka. The white peacock has a pure white plumage, with no other colors or patterns. It is not albino, but leucistic, which means it has a partial loss of pigmentation. The white peacock is a male bird, which uses its long and elaborate tail feathers to attract the female peahen. The white peacock can spread its tail into a fan-like shape, displaying its beauty and majesty. The white peacock is an omnivore, feeding on seeds, fruits, insects, and small animals. It can grow up to 2.3 meters in length, including its tail, and weigh up to 6 kilograms. It is uncommon in the wild, but more frequent in captivity, where it is bred for its ornamental value.

White polar bear

The white polar bear is the largest and most powerful land carnivore, living in the Arctic regions of North America, Europe, and Asia. The white polar bear has a thick and fluffy fur, which is not actually white, but transparent. The fur reflects the light, giving it a white appearance. The white polar bear also has a layer of fat under its skin, which helps it to stay warm and buoyant. The white polar bear is a hunter, feeding mainly on seals, which it catches on the ice or in the water. It can swim up to 10 kilometers per hour and run up to 40 kilometers per hour. It can reach up to 3 meters in length and weigh up to 800 kilograms. The species is a vulnerable one, facing threats from climate change, which reduces its habitat and food sources.

White whale

The white whale, or beluga, gracefully inhabits the Arctic and subarctic waters, distinguished by its smooth, cream-colored skin and distinctive rounded head. Renowned for its sociable nature and diverse vocalizations, it's affectionately known as the "canary of the sea." As a carnivore, it feeds on various marine life forms, displaying remarkable diving abilities and endurance. However, this magnificent creature faces grave endangerment due to human activities such as hunting, pollution, and habitat loss. Urgent conservation efforts are imperative to safeguard the future of the beluga and preserve the delicate balance of our marine ecosystems.

White Rhino near extinction

White rhinos are the second-largest land mammals coming from Africa. They are also known as the square-lipped rhinoceros. As of March 2018, there are only two white rhinos living in Northern Africa, both of which are female. These two are living in the OI Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya and are protected round-the-clock by armed guards. The species is near extinction due to decades of rampant poaching for rhino horn.
