'Fake Christian': US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth trolled for quoting a 'Bible verse' from Pulp Fiction

Religion is at the forefront in America like in no other nation. From waging wars to raising population, anything and everything is being done in the name of the almighty. While that might be an acceptable force of influence for some, it is still an aspect of life that most treat with reverence.

The name of Jesus and the verses of the Bible have gotten people through the toughest times in their lives while keeping them grounded in the soaring ones. American Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth is one such religious evangelist who has been referencing the faith of the Bible and Jesus Christ in numerous addresses.





While he may have received praises for the depth of his faith previously, currently he has been touted as a 'Fake Christian' by Americans who caught him quoting a dialogue from Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction as a Bible verse.

At a Pentagon worship service on Wednesday, people noticed that one of Hegseth's prayer closely echoed a monologue from the 1994 film. He explained that the prayer—known as "CSAR 25:17”—had been recited by "Sandy 1” to combat search‑and‑rescue crews ahead of CSAR missions, including a recent operation involving two U.S. Air Force crew members who were shot down over Iran.

"The path of the downed aviator is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men," Hegseth prayed.

"Blessed is he who, in the name of camaraderie and duty, shepherds the lost through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children.

"And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to capture and destroy my brother. And you will know my call sign is Sandy 1 when I lay my vengeance upon thee, and amen."

However, netizens were quick to notice and call out the fumble online.

"That is because Pete Hegseth is a fake Christian drunk that has never read the Bible," wrote one user on X.

"A clown in a suit is still a clown" added another.

"Next what? Turn Sunday service into a Tarantino audition waiting for the 'amen' followed by "say what again?"" questioned another.

Hegseth and President Trump have framed much of America's actions in Iran as a rescue in explicitly religious terms, with Hegseth likening the timeline to the Resurrection of Jesus and Trump portraying himself as Jesus. Their religious invocation in the war has upset many Christians across the world, thus leading to backlash.
