Did MrBeast really build a school in India? YouTuber's viral video shows shocking transformation
American YouTuber MrBeast has once again set the internet abuzz , this time with a video claiming he built 10 schools across the world, including one in India.
The content creator, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, commands a staggering 468 million subscribers on YouTube, making him the most-followed individual on the platform. Known for high-budget stunts and large-scale philanthropy, his latest upload titled “I Built 10 Schools Around The World” offers a behind-the-scenes look at ambitious construction and renovation projects spanning Ecuador, Ghana, India and the United States.
As community members thanked the YouTuber and his team for their effort, he revealed that he had made two homes for the two teachers, Joseph and Emmanuel, who spent "one-third" of their salary commuting to the school every day. He also added a bathroom facility for the 250 students, constructed a kitchen and announced free lunches for every student every week until May 2030 — prompting chants of his name from grateful children.
The YouTuber revealed he spent half a million dollars on the entire project in Ghana and added that the amount would cross one million dollars with the development set to happen around the year. He was also named 'Chief of Development' by the community for his efforts.
Other projects included the addition of a soccer field at one school and a pedestrian bridge over a river at another, improving both access and safety. In the United States, he transformed an indoor school serving neurodivergent students into a dedicated outdoor learning centre.
There he built a three-storey school along with gifting the school a bus to prevent students from having to walk an hour or more to reach the school. "I'm very happy that my students, especially the girls, will come safely," said a teacher in the video.
The video has crossed more than 19 million views in just a day and numerous viewers in the comments appreciated MrBeast's efforts for the students and the communities. "So a YouTuber can do more than a whole government, Mr beast deserves a Nobel prize," wrote one.
"This isn’t content… this is legacy. Millions of kids will learn inside buildings that exist because one creator decided to care," commended another.
In the caption of his video, the YouTuber shared that over 200 million children don't have access to safe education, and expressing hope that the video inspired "more people to get involved and help kids learn all around the world."
From demolition to development in Ghana
The video began with the first school being constructed in Ghana, as the YouTuber tore down the "dangerous" school building that had been ordered by the officials to be "torn down." Along with reconstructing the old school, he built two new buildings for more classrooms, and also dug a well to provide water for the school and the community in the area.As community members thanked the YouTuber and his team for their effort, he revealed that he had made two homes for the two teachers, Joseph and Emmanuel, who spent "one-third" of their salary commuting to the school every day. Expanding classrooms and infrastructure
In other countries, the scale remained equally ambitious. One location received a two-storey building with six new classrooms. MrBeast noted that after launching a meal programme there the previous year, student attendance had increased by 10 per cent.School in Maharashtra
For his final school, MrBeast travelled to Maharashtra in India where an overcrowded school lacked classrooms to allocate the students. The school had a total of six classrooms for over 400 students, shocking the content creator. There he built a three-storey school along with gifting the school a bus to prevent students from having to walk an hour or more to reach the school. "I'm very happy that my students, especially the girls, will come safely," said a teacher in the video.
