A tragic incident happened with a Vietnamese woman whose most special day turned into a harrowing experience that brought into notice the unexpected dangers that can come behind party decorations.

Giang Pham's birthday was celebrated with lit candles and festive balloons, but it ended in a traumatic accident that left her with facial burns. The event turned tragic when a hydrogen-filled balloon exploded. The shocking incident occurred on February 14 and was captured on camera and later shared on Instagram. The woman from Hanoi, was celebrating her birthday at a local restaurant when the accident took place, as reported by Báo Hải Dương.

In the video, Giang is seen holding a birthday cake with lit candles in one hand and a bunch of balloons in the other. As she poses for photos and videos to commemorate the moment, one of the hydrogen-filled balloons accidentally came into contact with the candle flames. The balloon exploded instantly, and flames shot towards her face. In shock, Giang threw the cake and balloons aside, covering her face with both hands.

According to the report, Giang immediately ran to the bathroom and poured water over her burns. She was then rushed to the hospital for treatment. Recalling the incident, Giang shared, “The incident happened 6 days ago, but only today did I calm down enough to review the process of the balloon exploding and causing my burns."

When Giang discovered that the burns were on her face, she was deeply shocked and distressed. “I cried all day because I didn’t know what my life and work would be like after being burned on my face like that," she said.

Fortunately, doctors confirmed that she had suffered first and second-degree burns and reassured her that there would be no permanent scars once the wounds fully healed. “However, it will take months for my skin to recover its colour," Giang added.

The balloons Giang used were filled with hydrogen, a highly flammable gas. She mentioned that the balloon seller did not warn her about the potential dangers. “If I had known, I would never have put myself in such a dangerous situation. That is also the reason I posted this article, sharing my unfortunate accident," she said.

Giang also noted that the restaurant’s decorative balloons contained normal air and did not catch fire during the explosion. “When the balloon exploded, the fire flared up, rising high and burning the entire array of balloons the restaurant had prepared. Luckily, these balloons contained normal air, otherwise it could have led to a serious fire," she said.

Giang hopes her experience will serve as a warning to others to “be more careful when using balloons, not letting themselves fall into dangerous situations or have unnecessary accidents." This incident highlights the importance of awareness and safety measures, especially when dealing with potentially hazardous materials, even in celebratory settings.
