Losing important documents can have significant repercussions, especially in a country where such documents are often the sole proof of identity, citizenship, and rights. Here are some risks associated with losing vital documents:

Identity theft: Without proper identification, individuals are vulnerable to identity theft, which can lead to financial fraud and misuse of personal information.

Citizenship issues: Documents like the Aadhaar card, passport, and voter ID are crucial for proving Indian citizenship. Loss of these documents can result in legal complications and even risk of losing citizenship, as seen in the National Register of Citizens (NRC) controversy in Assam.

Access to services: Essential services such as banking, healthcare, and government subsidies often require identification documents. Losing them can hinder access to these services.

Legal and financial delays: These documents are also required for various legal processes. Their absence can cause delays in court proceedings, property transactions, and inheritance claims.
